At the stove and at the table

An electric grinder is for the stove, where one hand holds the pan: the glossy grinder runs on batteries, the USB grinder charges by cable and starts when you turn it over. A manual mill is for the table, quiet and with nothing to charge.

Pairs and two-in-one pieces keep salt and pepper together. The glass and magnetic pairs arrive filled, and the frosted glass grinder carries a salt shaker in its top.

Salt, peppercorns and the burr

Most of our grinders turn from fine to coarse on a ceramic burr, which salt does not rust. Fill them with dry coarse salt or whole peppercorns, and keep fine table salt for a shaker.

A grinder with a built-in battery goes to a battery recycler at the end of its life, not into the trash.

Questions

Questions about Kamenstein salt and pepper grinders

Should you buy a Kamenstein electric or manual grinder?

An electric grinder frees a hand at the stove. A manual mill needs no batteries and is quieter at the table. Many kitchens keep one of each.

What salt should you put in a Kamenstein grinder?

Coarse dry salt, such as sea salt crystals. Fine table salt and damp flaky salts clog a burr, so keep those in a shaker or a salt pig.

Will your Kamenstein grinder rust from the salt?

Not at the burr: most of ours grind on ceramic, which salt does not rust. Each product page names the mechanism of that grinder.
