Towers, carousels and frames

Most of our racks are towers that turn on a round base, so the jar at the back comes to the front with a push. They hold sixteen or twenty jars and stand from about 11 to 13.5 inches tall. The Ellington is a low carousel of about 6 inches for a cabinet shelf, and the Lincoln steps its fifteen jars across three wire tiers.

The bamboo racks are frames rather than towers. They stand on the counter, lie in a drawer or hang on the wall, and the shallowest is only 2.75 inches deep.

Filled, labeled and refillable

All but one rack on this shelf arrive with the jars filled and the name of the spice on the cap. The Bamboo 3-in-1 is the exception: its glass cubes come empty with the spices in the box, so you fill them in the order you like. A sifter under the cap shakes the spice out, and it lifts out when a measuring spoon needs to go in. Many racks also come with five years of free spice refills, and each product page says whether its rack does.
