This is a hand mill 8 inches tall, white with a gold band where the dial turns. The dial moves through five preset settings, fine at one end and coarse at the other. Pull the cap off, fill through the wide opening, put the cap back on and twist to grind. It holds about 150 grams of peppercorns or 300 grams of sea salt, so you refill it less often than a short mill. It ships empty, and since the mechanism is ceramic, salt will not corrode it. Keep it by the cutting board for cooking or on the table for dinner, and the same dial serves both.
